Boston Metropolitan Area, USA
Posted on Thursday, February 29, 2024

At CytoTronics, we are transforming cell biology discovery with our high-throughput, semiconductor-based platforms. Our Pixel systems provide live cell insights with single-cell resolution across all cell types. By seamlessly integrating semiconductors with conventional microplates, Pixel unlocks multi-modal electrical, electrochemical, and electrophysiological capabilities, delivering an unprecedented scope of data collection and scale-up for cell biology research, drug development, and pharmaceutical manufacturing applications. Established as a spin-off from Harvard University in 2021, we are headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts.

About this position

As the Senior Mixed-Signal Design Engineer for CytoTronics you will work collaboratively with the larger hardware team to define, design, layout, debug and validate our custom ASIC for live-cell biology applications. You are also expected to work collaboratively with the software team on FPGA firmware development (e.g., Verilog) to facilitate different application modules enabled by the ASIC.

This is a phenomenal opportunity for an experienced mixed-signal design engineer seeking to cross into the rapidly growing biotech sector and build a revolutionary platform in the life science tool industry.

This role is on-site out of our Boston office.

Responsibilities

· Define, design, layout, debug and validate our custom analog mixed-signal ASIC for live-cell biology applications.

· Work in collaboration with software team to develop FPGA firmware for the custom ASIC.

· Document all ASIC design methods and specifications, present design information at design reviews and certification review.

· Assist in necessary PCB designs.

Qualifications

· MS degree in EE with 7+ years (or PhD degree in EE with 3+ years) of industry experience.

· Strong background in analog mixed-signal ASIC design (e.g., LNA, ADC, DAC, etc.).

· Strong background in FPGA programming (Xilinx).

· Proficiency with Python.

· Experience with PCB design tools: schematic, layout, simulation – Altium, KiCad or similar.

· Experience with complex PCB design techniques: multilayer assemblies, high-speed differential signaling, HDI PCB stack-ups, COB.

Additional desirable skills

· Experience with Quality Control Systems and documentation is a plus.

· Familiarity with industry standard system quality standards, CE, UL, ISO, FCC and others is a plus.

· Experience with industry standard system USB debug interfaces like FTDI or similar is a plus.

The people that we seek have:

· An openness to other ideas, approaches, and methods.

· Failures that exposed learning moments and insights to build upon

· Ability to communicate as part of a broader vessel – not an isolationist.

· The end in mind – we are building a business not just a technology.

· A passion to build a venture, not just show up for a job or task.
