About the Role
The Field Application Scientist at CytoTronics will be responsible for enhancing customer satisfaction and building customer relationships and advocacy while providing technical support for all CytoTronics solutions, platforms, instruments, and software. You will serve as a technical expert and consultant to both internal teams and external customers, providing comprehensive support for the implementation, optimization, and troubleshooting of our products. This role requires a deep understanding of scientific principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across interdisciplinary teams.
This role will report to the Chief Business Officer and can be remote (home office) or based in our office in Boston’s Southend.
Responsibilities:
- Provide broad scientific and technical support during pre- and post-sales activities (virtual and on-site visits). Your critical thinking will be key to identify customer needs and to demonstrate the correct product solutions to meet those needs.
- Serve as the primary contact to assist customers with experimental design, assay development, and hands-on use of the PIXEL platform.
- Schedule and manage PIXEL demos, instrument installations, and training as required.
- Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with customers.
- Assist in the development of application notes, wet lab protocols, and analysis pipelines to enhance the customer experience
- Analyze customer data and conduct presentations to communicate key findings and provide troubleshooting advice
- Maintain updated customer information in our CRM platform.
- Support potential high value customer technology presentations and/or demonstrations to help secure new customers in drug discovery applications.
- Conduct presentations (seminars, workshops and remote/virtual) on CytoTronics offerings
- Develop knowledge and understanding of customer applications; promote customer satisfaction by communicate novel applications and publications or presentations (functional phenotypic screening expertise), investigating complaints and taking appropriate action.
- Provide feedback to CBO regarding marker dynamics, product performance and competition.
- Assist CBO in generating sales leads by developing customer relationships.
- Maintain knowledge of competitive products and technologies
- Serve as a communication bridge between end-users and internal development groups and management being the “voice of the customer.”
- Participate in marker development activities by expanding our knowledge of the competition and marketplace.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or equivalent experience preferred; MS with minimum of 3 years of experience; BA/BS with 5 years of experience in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics or related science.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with relevant cell-based measurement technologies/assays (High Content Imaging, Cell Painting, Functional Imaging (e.g. Calcium Imaging), MEA (micro-electronic array), reporter based cell screening assays, etc.)
- Hands on proficiency with common molecular biology bench techniques required; cell culture, cell-sorting, and flow cytometry experience is also valuable.
- Basic proficiency in a common coding language (Python (preferred), R, etc.)
- 3+ years of customer-facing experience.
- Ability to travel 15-30% including attending conferences and trade shows when needed.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and systematic troubleshooting skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Self-confident and outgoing personality.
- Fluent with Microsoft Office applications and prior experience with CRM software.

Location: This role will report to the Chief Business Officer and must be based in our office in Boston’s Southend (moving to the Seaport area, 12 Farnsworth Street Boston in March 2025). The FAS will work closely with the Customer Success Manager and our Head of Biology & Data Science.
