DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a skilled, dependable, and knowledgeable Senior Accountant with impeccable attention to detail to join our team in the Bay Park area of San Diego, CA. The ideal candidate can work independently, is thorough, task oriented, and able to take on a large variety of tasks in a dynamic work environment.

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for supporting accounting operations, including managing accounting records, managing and performing transactions, preparing financial reports, controlling cost and expenses, and treasury. This position will also be responsible for coordinating and providing information to external auditors, as well as complying with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform general accounting responsibilities including Sales Order/Invoicing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Expense Report Processing.
  • Ensure vendor invoices are processed in accordance with authorization and approval policies.
  • Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly cash projections.
  • Prepare journal entries for payroll, depreciation, accruals and other necessary adjustments and compliance.
  • Close the general ledger accurately and on time.
  • Prepare the balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement.
  • Analyze variances from the budget and identify significant issues/risks.
  • Prepare Balance Sheet workpapers and resolve discrepancies.
  • Analyze financial data and provide forecasting support. Organize data into reports and perform analysis for key metrics.
  • Process expense reports and analyze expenses to evaluate compliance with policy.
  • Coordinate and assist in the creation of the annual budget.
  • Maintain and enforce a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and provide information to external auditors for annual audits.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Prepare financial documents as needed for fundraising efforts.
  • Other additional responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA certification strongly preferred.
  • 8+ years of accounting experience, in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong technical accounting skills and knowledge of GAAP.
  • Demonstrated experience managing month-end close processes and financial reporting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and detailed experience with current ERP systems.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a willingness to roll up sleeves and contribute to the overall success of the company.
  • Experience with financial planning and analysis.

At the time of posting, the expected starting salary range for this role is $110,000-$130,000 annually. The actual pay depends on multiple individualized factors, including education, job-related knowledge, experience, and skills, which will be assessed during the interview process. The comprehensive compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as health benefits, 401k, and company stock options. The base pay range and package is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
