Process Engineer

TeraPore Technologies is a venture-backed startup developing cutting edge nanoseparations materials for the biopharmaceutical market and beyond. Our team is comprised of PhD scientists, separation experts, and biopharma industry veterans, all passionate about enabling safer, cleaner life science products.

TeraPore is seeking a self-motivated Process Engineer to support scale up activities. The Process Engineer will be responsible for process improvement activities while ensuring quality product. This position is a full-time on-site position based in our South San Francisco facility.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and use lab scale / prototype experimentation to determine key process parameters for scale up
  • Suggest equipment improvements to ensure quality product
  • Participate in development of a quality system to ensure reliability and repeatability of production processes
  • Troubleshoot and improve reliability of manufacture by continuous improvement techniques
  • Monitor and sample the processes to guarantee product quality
  • Communicate and report results progress and status
  • Take initiative and exercise sound independent judgment

Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Industrial, Process preferred)
  • At least 5+ years of demonstrated successful experience in a process development role
  • Desire and ability to work hands-on with the process
  • Sound understanding of heat and mass transfer and its applications to surface chemistry and/or coatings
  • Familiar working within a quality controlled environment
  • Strong analytical, statistical and problem solving skills along with a continuous improvement mindset for optimizing production processes
  • Experience in fabric, paper or web processing and coating, spinning, melt blowing, nonwoven or porous media manufacturing is desirable
  • Includes hands on work with an entrepreneurial mindset, needs an open mind when faced with complex and unexpected situations
  • Experience teaching and/or training others in a technical capacity
  • Useability focused: experience in rolling out custom equipment or applications to new users
  • Ability to work closely with other functions, suppliers and contractors
  • Excellent technical writing and presentation skills

Salary Range:

  • $120-$130k
