We are focused on developing and delivering the best-in-class intuitive microgrid decision support SaaS platform that will be a key enabler for the expansion of the commercial microgrid market.

The role:

You will play a critical role in managing Xendee’s financial health and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. This is a unique opportunity to shape the accounting function from the ground up and contribute to strategic financial planning. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent organizational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

This role reports to the Chief Executive Officer and is based out of our San Diego office.

What you’d be working on:

Invoicing and Accounts Receivable:

  • Manage and process customer invoices, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on overdue invoices.
  • Implement strategies to improve collections and reduce outstanding receivables.

Revenue Recognition:

  • Oversee and ensure proper revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Review and analyze contracts to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment.
  • Prepare revenue-related journal entries and account reconciliations.

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare monthly and ad-hoc financial reporting for senior management, including forecasts, and projections for various scenarios.
  • Assist in the preparation of Board presentations and reports.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to provide financial insights and support strategic planning.

General Accounting:

  • Manage the general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.
  • Assist with the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in the accounting function.
  • Develop and document accounting policies and procedures for new activities that occur as the business grows.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a startup or high-growth environment.
  • CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and revenue recognition principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel experience (pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.)
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
